New York Strip with Bourbon Glaze: A Ranch-Style Holiday Treat

How to Cook New York Strip with Bourbon Glaze:

  1. Season and Sear: Take the New York strip steaks out of the fridge and let them rest at room temperature for 20 minutes. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steaks for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest.
  2. Make the Bourbon Glaze: Lower the heat to medium and carefully add the bourbon to the skillet. Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes to cook off the alcohol. Stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Simmer until the glaze thickens, about 5 minutes.
  3. Glaze and Serve: Return the steaks to the skillet and spoon the glaze over them, letting it coat each side. Cook for 1–2 minutes more to warm through. Serve immediately with your favorite sides—mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus make great accompaniments.
